Bait And Lures

Growing up us kids we would dig up some worms and head for the creek. We had us a bucket full of wigglers and set to catch a mess of fish. We caught mostly brim, crappie and bass. We couldn't afford all the new lures out and we didn't really care. The worms were free and we certainly had the desire. We of course had contest for who could catch the biggest fish.
Now there are a ton of artificial baits out there and we all learn through trail and error what works and what don't. The realism of some of these artificial baits have come a long way. Just a matter of fooling the fish and making the lures move through the water in a real life like manner. This is where the art of fishing comes in. You'll find some books I have found and presented in "The Fishing Hook Store". Learn to master the art of fishing and reap the rewards of a master catch regardless of what you are fishing for.

Choosing The Right Bait

Crappie are versatile feeders, eating most types of insects, worms, and small crayfish and minnows. This variety of forage makes choosing baits for crappie fairly simple. Just about every angler has one bait that he or she swears will outfish any other. This is because that person probably uses that particular bait much more than any other. This is not necessarily a bad thing, however, because having confidence in your bait is almost as important as having a bait at all. As a rule of thumb, if the fish are eating it, keep using it. When the fish seem to stop eating it, don't keep using it. If the fish aren't biting, change your live bait or lure.
